Cécile Mouchel

Research Assistant, Economist, India

Cécile Mouchel is research assistant of the LAKSMI programme at the French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) since March 2020, under the supervision of CJ Nordman. She is financed by the Indo-European CHALLINEQ project on “Challenging Inequalities” through the Centre for Human Sciences (CSH) in New Delhi. She was initially working as an intern of the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD),  and was based at IFP in 2018, dealing with the research design of the tracking of permanent NEEMSIS migrants. Since then, she has been working on social networks topics of the NEEMSIS, at the same time as consultancy services as a socio-economist in developing countries. She graduated from a Master Degree in “Evaluation of development policies and programmes” (EPOLPRO) at the Sorbonne Institute of Development Studies (IEDES) – University Paris 1, with specialties on  development economics, labour economics and sociology of labour. She is used to supervise data collection on different fields through innovative softwares (SurveyCTO, Sphinx, LimeSurvey) from the training of enumerators to the cleaning and shaping of quantitative datasets. Within the LAKSMI programme, she works on the design of the NEEMSIS 2 data collection 2020, tackling specific issues such as social networks and mobility in South India.
